Step Up’s Learning Portal offers flexible ways to share and interact with PDFs, images, websites, and even snapshots. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to upload materials and use annotation tools during your tutoring sessions.

Option 1: Import a PDF

Ensure your video layout is set to Video Sidebar or Floating Videos, not Video Grid.

Click the + button in the top-left corner of the Learning Portal.

Select Import PDF/Office.

Choose your PDF file and click Open (or Upload if using Safari).

Select the pages to upload, then click Next.

Choose how you’d like the pages to appear:

All in a Single Whiteboard Tab
-
Each on a Separate Whiteboard Tab
-
Into the Current Whiteboard Tab
-

Use the magnifying glass icon to zoom in/out, or click Zoom to Fit.

Click the Unlock button to move or resize the file. Use the corner circles to adjust size.

To delete, click the file, then the trashcan icon (must be unlocked first).
Option 2: Upload a PDF or Image

Set video to Video Sidebar or Floating Videos.
-
Click the + button, then New Whiteboard Tab.
-
Click the upload icon (arrow pointing up) in the top toolbar.

Choose your file and click Open (or Upload for Safari).
-
If uploading a PDF:
-
Choose page selection and layout option as described in Option 1.

Use zoom, resize, unlock, and delete features as needed (same as above).
Option 3: Copy and Paste an Image

Ensure your video layout is Video Sidebar or Floating Videos.

Click the + button, then New Whiteboard Tab.

Copy the image:
-
Right-click and select Copy, or press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (Mac).

Paste into the whiteboard using Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

You can also drag and drop an image directly (Mac users).

Use the magnifying glass to zoom and Zoom to Fit for centering.

Click the image to move, resize, lock, or delete it as needed.
How to Take a Video Snapshot

Set your video layout to Video Sidebar or Floating Videos.

Click the + button, then select New Whiteboard Tab.
-
Click the camera icon in the top toolbar.
-
Select which camera (yours or your tutee’s) to capture.
-
The snapshot will appear on the whiteboard.
Tip: This is great for capturing physical work your student holds up to their camera.
How to Annotate a Document, Image, Website, or Video
Once your content is on the whiteboard:

Draw: Click the pencil icon

Highlight: Click the marker icon
-
Change Colors: Use the circle icon at the far left

Add Text: Click the T icon, then click the whiteboard to type

Erase: Click the eraser icon
-
Note: The eraser can also remove locked content

To protect content or annotations:

Click the arrow icon (Select Tool).
-
Click the item to lock.
-
Click the white “Lock” button. To unlock, click again and select “Unlock”.
