The drawing whiteboard is a flexible tool that can be used for both relationship-building and academic activities during your tutoring sessions.
When to Use the Drawing Whiteboard
Math support: Use blank whiteboards to walk through problems, draw diagrams, or show your student’s thinking
Visual learning: Sketch vocabulary, timelines, or processes — perfect for students who benefit from seeing concepts unfold
How to Use a Blank Drawing Whiteboard
Click the + button in the top-left corner of the Learning Portal
Select New Whiteboard Tab
-
Begin drawing or writing directly on the blank space
Use the pen, highlighter, text, and shapes tools from the top menu
You can open multiple whiteboards as needed
Important: Adjust Your Video Layout
To see your whiteboard and your student at the same time:
Use the Video Sidebar or Floating Video layout
Avoid Video Grid, which may block visibility of the whiteboard
Adjust this on the right-hand side of your Learning Portal screen.
Auto-Save Reminder
Everything you and your student add to the whiteboard — including drawings, uploaded materials, and notes — is automatically saved. This means:
Whiteboards and tabs will still be there the next time you log in
You can revisit past work or continue right where you left off
Chat messages from your session will also be saved
No need to manually save — the Learning Portal keeps your materials ready for the next session.
