The Cobrowser is one of the most powerful tools available in Step Up’s Learning Portal. It allows tutors and students to interact with websites together in real time, directly within a whiteboard space. Whether you're walking through an Eedi lesson or exploring a reading passage, the Cobrowser makes sessions more collaborative and engaging.
Why Use the Cobrowser?
Unlike screen sharing, the Cobrowser offers a unique advantage: Students can directly interact with websites, click buttons, and even annotate alongside you.
This turns lessons into a shared, hands-on experience that keeps students engaged and involved in their own learning.
How to Launch the Cobrowser
To open a Cobrowser in a whiteboard space:
Join your session and switch your video settings to "Video Sidebar"
Open a whiteboard and click the Library tab
Access the Apps panel
Click on Cobrowser
Paste the URL of the website you want to share (e.g., an Eedi lesson or reading passage)
Interact with the Cobrowser:
Once launched:
Both you and your student can interact with the site: click, scroll, and type — just like in a normal browser
Open multiple tabs if needed
Use the drawing tools in the Learning Portal to annotate directly on top of the website content
Click the lock icon in the top-right corner if you want to stay in control of navigation
Cobrowser Controls & Management
Use the controls in the top-right of the Cobrowser window:
Stop Presenting: Minimizes the Cobrowser (you can reopen it later)
Close Browser: Closes the Cobrowser completely — note that this will not save your session or reopen the previous page
Here is an example of how to use the Cobrowser with your Eedi math lesson.
