What this feature does
If you're in the matching pool, you can now remove yourself directly from your dashboard instead of emailing Step Up Tutoring.
Important: This only stops us from looking for additional students to match you with. It does not remove or unmatch any students you're currently tutoring. If you have current students, you'll keep working with them exactly as before. Leaving the pool just means we'll stop trying to add more.
When to use this
Use "Leave the matching pool" if:
- You joined the pool hoping for more students, but your availability or capacity has changed, and you no longer want additional matches at this time.
- You want to hold off on getting additional matches temporarily and pick back up later by re-requesting a student when you're ready.
Don't use this if:
- You want to stop tutoring a student you're currently matched with. This feature doesn't touch existing matches. Reach out to our support team separately for that.
- You're having an issue with a specific match (scheduling conflict, fit concerns, etc.). Leaving the pool won't resolve that; contact us at tutorsupport@stepuptutoring.org instead.
What happens after you leave
- If you have no currently matched students, you'll be moved back to your prior status (for example, On Hold, or Substitute if that's where you were before joining the pool).
- If you have at least one matched student, your status will simply reflect that you're matched. You'll keep tutoring as usual.
How to do it (Pull Screenshots)
- On your dashboard, find the banner letting you know you're in the matching pool.
- If you do not see this banner, then you are not currently in the matching pool.

- Click Take me out of the matching pool.
- Confirm in the dialog that appears. This is your last chance to back out if you didn't mean to click it.

- You'll see a confirmation that you've been removed. Your dashboard will update, and "Request another student" will be available again whenever you're ready to rejoin.
