Overview
We're excited to let you know about a new feature coming to your tutor dashboard: the ability to request additional students, right from the Student section!
This feature is rolling out gradually over the next two weeks, so you will not see it on your dashboard right away. If it's not there yet, it's on its way. Because student capacity is tied to your remaining work-study award, requests are reviewed by our Work-Study team before a match search begins.
Before you start, make sure
- Your availability is up to date
- You have enough open time slots for the students you want to add
You are not at or over your award limit
Step-by-step
Step 1: Go to your dashboard's Student section.
Step 2: Update your availability.
Step 3: Under the Student Section, Click "Request Additional Students."
Step 4: Enter your requested total.
A box will pop up asking for the total number of students you'd like to be matched with. This number must be greater than your current number of students.
What happens next
Your request is sent to our Work-Study team for review, since additional capacity depends in part on your remaining work-study award.
- If approved: we update your capacity in our system and start your match search. Your dashboard will show "You are currently in the matching pool."
- If not approved: you'll receive an email with our decision and next steps. You can submit a new request 30 days from your original submission date.
When to use this feature
Use this feature any time you're ready and able to take on more students. It replaces emailing us directly to ask for additional students.
When not to use this feature
Contact us directly at workstudy@stepuptutoring.org instead, if:
- You're at or over your award limit
- You have a question or concern about a current student
- You need to drop a student before taking on a new one

What does "You are currently in the matching pool" mean?
Your request was approved, your capacity was updated in our system, and we've started searching for your new match.
What if my request isn't approved?

I don't see the button on my dashboard yet — why not?
