At Step Up, we understand that your capacity to tutor may change over time. Whether you need to adjust your current workload or you’re ready to take on more students, we’re here to support you.
What to Do If You’re Over Capacity
If you've been matched with more students than you can manage, follow these steps:
Contact Tutor Support
Email tutorsupport@stepuptutoring.org and let us know which student(s) you would like to continue tutoring.-
Notify the Student’s Family
Please reach out to the families of any student(s) you can no longer support. Let them know:You are no longer available to tutor their child
Step Up will assign a new tutor as soon as possible
This helps ensure a smooth transition for both the student and their family.
Want to Tutor More Students?
General Volunteers
If you’re a general volunteer and want to take on more students:
Be sure to update your availability in the Tutor Portal under “Update Information”
- Email tutorsupport@stepuptutoring.org with the number of students you’d like to tutor
Once we receive your update, our team will begin working to match you with additional students.
College Program Tutors (Work Study, Angeleno Corps, College Corps)
If you're part of a college program (like Work Study, Angeleno Corps, or College Corps), there may be a limit to how many students you can tutor based on your required hours.
If you’re unsure of your program’s limits or have questions, reach out to tutorsupport@stepuptutoring.org for guidance.
Thank you for your flexibility and dedication to supporting students!
