Helping your student access the Learning Portal for tutoring is a simple process, similar to using platforms like Zoom. Whether using a direct link or short code, a few quick steps will ensure a smooth start to your sessions.
Ways for Students to Join the Learning Portal
There are two ways your student can join your tutoring session:
-
Direct Link
-
Found under your student’s Student Details in the Tutor Portal.
-
Share this link with the student’s guardian — they can bookmark it for future use.
-
-
Tutoring Code
-
Also listed in the Student Details section.
-
Students can go to the Step Up website, click Sign In, then Go to Student Sign In Page, and enter your tutoring code to access the session.
-
Before the First Session: Confirm Tech Compatibility
Make sure the student’s family is using a supported device and browser. We recommend:
-
Device: Laptop, desktop, or Chromebook (preferred); tablets are also supported.
-
Browser: Chrome (recommended), Safari (on iOS), Firefox, or Edge.
What Happens After Students Click the Link?
-
The student enters a Lobby, where they’ll test their camera and microphone.
-
When ready, they click “Join” to enter the tutoring space.
