How Communication Works

After you are matched with a student, Step Up will send you a text message that opens a dedicated communication thread between you and the student’s family.

Save this phone number as soon as you receive it — this is the number you’ll use to coordinate sessions. You can text or call through this number. Your personal number will remain private.

Scheduling Your First Session
Once you're connected via text, please coordinate with the family to schedule a tutoring time that works for both of you. Consistency is key, so aim to establish a regular weekly schedule.
Didn’t Receive a Text Thread?
If you haven’t received a communication thread within a few hours of being matched, please contact us at tutorsupport@stepuptutoring.org. We’ll help you get connected as quickly as possible.
