Scheduling consistent sessions is key to helping your student build academic confidence and stay on track. Whether you’re planning your first meeting or setting up future sessions, here’s everything you need to know to coordinate your schedule effectively.
When to Schedule
Tutors are expected to meet with students twice per week. We encourage you to schedule your next session before ending your current one so that both you and your student have clarity and consistency.
How to Schedule a Session
1. Coordinate with the Family
Use your Step Up message thread through text or the Tutor Portal to confirm your student’s and family's availability. Make sure the time works for both of you and will repeat regularly if possible.
2. Confirm the Time
Once you’ve agreed on a day and time, confirm it via text so everyone has it in writing. Example message:
"Thanks! I’ll see [Student’s Name] at Thursday at 4:30 PM"
What If You Need to Reschedule?
We understand that things come up. If you or your student can’t make a session:
Contact the family as soon as possible through the Step Up thread
Offer alternative days/times that work for you
Try to reschedule within the same week to stay consistent
