We’ve partnered with Arizona State University’s (ASU) Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College to develop training modules - called “nanocourses” - that equip you with strategies, tips, and resources to be an effective tutor. This evidence-backed training—informed by research and designed with ASU, Stanford University, Step Up and other leading tutoring providers—will teach you how to:
- Build strong relationships with your student
- Engage students effectively
- Apply highly effective teaching practices in your tutoring
Each nanocourse is available online on ASU’s Community Educator Hub (details below), is designed to take about 15 minutes to complete, and includes highly practical information including tips, resources and tools that you can implement in your tutoring.
During your Step Up Tutoring 101 Training, you’ll receive a brief overview of the key material covered in our nanocourses. This introduction is designed to help you get oriented and feel confident about what’s ahead.
For a more in-depth learning experience, you're encouraged to complete the nanocourses on your own time. They dive deeper into important tutoring concepts, best practices, and tools you’ll use during your sessions.
